Just as the Ruby community has been the source of much innovation on the server-side in the last few years, the JavaScript community has learned lots of late, and helped to evolve front-end design and engineering on the web to a much more usable, user-centered state.
While Ruby makes inroads on the client-side, with IronRuby and JRuby -- check out Zed Shaw's Profligacy, JavaScript has started to migrate to the server-side and edge-side spectra of the world, with efforts such as Rhino, POW, and MIT Crowbar helping to lead the way.
JavaScript, meet Ruby. Rubyists, meet the JS community. And thanks to John Resig once more!
