Avoid dropping winks on the floor

When failing to post a wink, due to password error or otherwise, it would be nice to see the actual wink you tried (and failed) to post so you can recover manually without resorting to insane hackery to get the text back.

A page with an at least mildly pleasant error message explaining the error condition (or even "sorry; try again?"), and perhaps a link to the HTTP referer header, when provided, would be a very good quick fix / improvement on the status quo.
